Specialised GMAT Verbal Tutoring
For Serious Improvement in CR, RC, and DI (Non-Math)

Meet the Founder

I didn’t begin my career intending to become a teacher. In fact, I studied Mechanical Engineering at Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering, Bangalore. But somewhere along the way, I discovered something that changed my life completely: my passion and talent for teaching.

What began as a temporary experiment while preparing for management entrance exams quickly became a calling. The moment I stepped out of my first Verbal Reasoning classroom, I knew I had found the work I was meant to do. I fell in love with simplifying complex grammar, breaking down arguments, training critical thinking, and helping ambitious students perform at their highest potential.

My own journey as a student shaped my teaching deeply. Although I eventually scored consistently in the 99th percentile in CAT Verbal, I was once an extremely nervous test taker myself. Learning how to overcome anxiety and perform under pressure became one of the most valuable lessons of my life — and later, one of the biggest strengths I brought into mentoring students.

In 2010, along with my close friend and then business partner Anant Mittal, I co-founded Arete Education in my hometown, Dehradun. What started as a boutique test prep institute quickly became one of the most respected coaching centers in the region, producing exceptional results consistently for 5 glorious years, including a 100 percentile scorer in CAT in our second year.

Over the last two decades, I have worked across GMAT, CAT, GRE, and SAT preparation as a teacher, mentor, curriculum designer, and product creator. I have worked with leading test prep organizations such as e-GMAT, one of the biggest players in the GMAT coaching industry; IMS Manya; GMATWhiz; Crackverbal; Career Launcher; and Career Forum. Working closely with industry leaders has given me invaluable exposure to product development, pedagogy design, student psychology, and high-performance mentoring.

Today, through MaxVerbal, I focus on building deeply thoughtful learning experiences centered around optimizing Verbal Reasoning skills, test-taking strategy, and performance psychology. My goal is simple: to help students struggling in Verbal Reasoning to think more clearly, perform more confidently, and develop skills that extend far beyond any standardized test.

My Philosophy

For me, Verbal Ability has never been about memorizing tricks, templates, or fashionable shortcuts. It is about precision, structure, logic, and pattern recognition. The deeper I studied the exam, the more I realized that behind every “difficult” verbal question lies an underlying system waiting to be understood.
And perhaps even more rewarding than discovering these patterns myself is helping my students discover them too — watching confusion turn into clarity, hesitation turn into confidence, and potential turn into achievement.
Over the years, a few core beliefs have come to define my approach to teaching.
1. Verbal Reasoning Is an Exact Science
Most students are taught to approach verbal ability as something vague or intuitive — a matter of “feel,” instinct, or natural language fluency. I fundamentally disagree. At its highest level, verbal reasoning operates with almost mathematical precision. Every correct answer is supported by logic. Every trap answer is wrong for a reason. Every sentence, argument, and passage follows an underlying structure that can be systematically analyzed and understood.
2. Great Teaching Is the Art of Simplifying Complexity
A teacher’s job is not to impress students with complexity, but to dissolve complexity into clarity. I believe the true measure of teaching lies in the ability to take an abstruse concept — whether grammatical, logical, or philosophical — and explain it so intuitively that a student can not only understand it, but confidently apply it under pressure.
3. Every Student Learns Differently
No two students process information in exactly the same way. Some students thrive through structure and formalism. Others learn through intuition and examples. Some require repetition; others need conceptual depth. Some learn quickly but inconsistently; others slowly but permanently. I do not believe in forcing students into a rigid “one-size-fits-all” system.
4. There Are No Shortcuts to Mastery
In an era obsessed with hacks, shortcuts, and “90th percentile strategies,” I choose to teach differently. Real mastery — whether in verbal reasoning or in life — is built through discipline, deliberate practice, intellectual honesty, and sustained effort. If you are looking for magical tricks, I may not be the right mentor for you. But if you are willing to think deeply, work consistently, and challenge yourself intellectually, I will invest everything I can to help you succeed.
5. Passion Must Be Matched by Commitment
Dreams, passion, and ambition are important. But none of them matter without commitment. Over the years, I have seen extraordinarily talented students fail because they lacked consistency, and seemingly ordinary students achieve extraordinary outcomes because they refused to give up. Talent may create potential. But discipline creates results.

Success — in the GMAT and in life — belongs not merely to those who dream, but to those willing to work relentlessly for those dreams.

Abhishek is a gifted teacher with an exceptional set of skills which are second to none in the business. I was his student at Mbaguru, during which he mentored me, helping me enhance my verbal skills to a great extent. It was because of him that I was able to score an overall percentile of 99.64 in CAT with a verbal sectional percentile of 98.9. Moreover, he also helped me in applying to various colleges for my masters and cracking other exams which include the likes of GMAT in which I scored 730 and XAT in which I scored 99.112 percentile in the Verbal section. It was because of his constant mentorship that I was able to secure a scholarship at ISB Hyderabad and also get an admit at IIM Calcutta. He was of utmost help to me in increasing my command over the subject with a special emphasis on the basics. He personally helped me prepare for my interviews and provided great insights about various B-Schools and what they look for in different candidates.
As a mentor he keeps things precise and straight to the point, always cutting through the clutter. He helps you identify your weaknesses and improving them in a way most people can't. I can't thank Abhishek enough for all that he has done for me and the pivotal role he has played in my life, and I give him my full recommendation.

I have had the pleasure of working with Abhishek for 3 months. During this time, as a personal verbal tutor, he continued to impress me with his drive, his commitment to my progress and development as well as his selflessness to accommodate both the time difference and my work schedule. In his sessions, which were well structured and engaging, I was able to drastically improve the verbal section of the GMAT. Before working with Abhishek my verbal scores were incredibly varied, ranging from 28 to 36. Although I am a native English speaker, I lacked fundamental basics that meant my process was not methodological. Abhishek stripped down my technique, covering the very basics. We eventually progressed where he excellently taught me the detailed content and techniques, in particular for Sentence Correction questions. I was particularly impressed with the organisation and detail of the ‘homework’ he set for me.Abhishek is well-mannered , aim-able and always helped me learn with a smile and boundless effort. I have no doubt he will be an invaluable member for anyone seeking to improve their GMAT score. Working with Abhishek was pertinent in me receiving an offer from Oxford SBS and obtain a place at a prestigiously ranked global institution.

Abhishek is a very proficient verbal trainer and has been instrumental in guiding and preparing me for CAT, especially the daunting verbal section. I had the pleasure to study under him during my IIT Roorkee days.

His teaching methodology is very efficient in explaining complex topics like verbal reasoning and analytical writing. His personalized approach to each and every student is what differentiates him from others.

Having known Abhishek (sir) for over 8 years now in both professional and personal capacities, I can vouch for his expertise in Verbal & Soft Skills Training and Interview Prep.He mentored me (amongst several others) closely during 2010-14 at IIT Roorkee, and what stood out immediately for us was his extremely logical and structured approach to explain the building blocks of Verbal section from ground up. This was a refreshing and welcome change for most of us who considered Verbal section to be relatively less objective and rational than Quant. Abhishek's approach eliminated the need to rote learn, and helped us retain the concepts during tests and beyond. The word about him spread quickly, and we witnessed his rise from a relatively unknown verbal trainer to a highly revered mentor and coach in Roorkee. In hindsight, I feel Abhishek's impact on our careers and lives has existed far beyond the entrance exams he helped us ace and the job interviews he helped us crack. He managed to cultivate a genuine interest for language in his students, and a lot of us still continue to use the language hacks he might've casually shared 10 years ago :)

I have known Abhishek for over a decade now, and don't know many people who are as passionate about teaching - or teaching Verbal for the most difficult competitive exams, to be precise. His passion translates to top-class training quality, highest level of commitment and extraordinary attachment to the students' success. Being an education consultant myself, I have closely followed his work and have benefited from his expertise on several occasions. Would gladly recommend his services to any student, institute or organization looking for the best verbal trainer out there!
